ESP COURSE SELF-ASSESSMENT

WRITING A SUMMARY :

For me, it is one of the most difficult activities. It is hard to write without errors and ofcourse it is not possible to see my own errors. After this year, it is easier to point out the most important things from the text and summarize it.

LISTENING PRACTISE IN CLASS:

I can state, that listening practise is one of the most interesting and favourite activities, because I always try to hear everything and to understand all the story, I try to know something interesting about the person who speaks on the listening tape. In my opinion, listening is much more useful when I am trying to hear more than words just to fill in the gaps.

LISTENING TO PEERS POWER POINT PRESENTATIONS:

At first, this type of activity for me looked very pleasant, but later I realized that it is very hard to listen carefully and especially to ask questions, because I am afraid to ask too difficult question. Despite that, I enjoy listening power point presentations.

MAKING POWER POINT PRESENTATIONS:

It is interesting activity, because it is a possibility to show my creativity and share my own ideas. But I am always afraid to talk to audience so it is really difficult activity for me.

SHORT TALK ON ESP THEMES IN CLASS:

This activity is not hard, but there is the same problem for me like about making power point presentation. I am afraid to talk to audience, so I always forget what I wanted to say.

PERFORMANCE ON ESP DEFINITION TEST:

I like this activity because it is a great chance to see what I know the best and which themes I need to revise more. I always try to revise all definitions carefully, but sometimes I just get so nervous that I forget some important things, definitions, words.

PERFORMANCE ON MODULE TEST:

Despite the fact, that my performance is not very well I like this activity because I can do it at home and not to worry about something for example time

LISTENING DICTATION:

It is hard activity for me, because I am writing to slowly, but I like to check my own errors and sometimes my errors are stupid and funny.

Psychology of conflicts

The conflict is one the major social phenomena, constantly arising between good friends and enemies, between husband and wife, between parents and children, between different groups of people. The conflict is more or less expressed struggle between two or more parties that have conflicting provisions, performance targets, or resisting aggression in its values.

Often conflicts are caused by emotional stress harms mental and physical health of personality, destroys the common interests groups , undermine their productivity. Coflicts often arise within the family affects children and it is a very high level stress , unpleasant memories which persist throghout life. The conflict has always caused intense emotional experiences.

Conflicts can be unilateral and bilateral. Unilateral conflict - a situation when a complaint is only one side, bilateral conflict - a situation when a complaints is two side.

One of the most common conflict causes - the inability to look at the situation in a flexible manner.

Ideal conflict resolution method is the solution through negotiations so that the routine of every day life, but also in difficult work environment.

Psychology of laughter

People use to express their emotions and very good mood by laughing. Laughter is the expression of the amusement. It is said that laughter is the best medicine and it can help us to feel better and healthier. There were so many experiments done and now it is clear that laughter is not only the process by which human express their feelings and mood but also it is very useful to human's health.

Laugh - it is not only the expression of fun. In the brain laughter produces feel-good chemicals - endorphins, which are also called "happy hormones".

Brain flooded with endorphins inhibits depressive mood and gives a sense of bliss, in addition, an effect similar to opiates - inhibits pain center in the brain.

It is also useful to smile, because the facial expression of emotions not only reflect but also have real influence. If you pluck a happy facial expression - it is your good mood surrounding not only believe, but yourself.

Laughter helps to train a heart and lungs. Studies and experiments have shown that a genuine, unhibited laughter minute amounts to almost fourty five minutes of deep relaxation.

In addition, laughter even burns a calories.

Contagious laughter is not only to create good and friendly atmosphere, to show feelings and mood, it is also to improve physical condition.

Psychology studies at MRU and Vilnius University

Lithuania, like other countries in Europe, has so many Universities and there is ability to choose the best one in which student would like to study the most. In my opinion, the most popular Universities in Lithuania are MRU and Vilnius University. Both of Universities are located in the capital Vilnius and both of them are well known in all Europe.

When it was a time to choose where I will study I was thinking only about these two Universities. It was hard to make a right decision, but now I am a student of MRU and I am happy about it. How I made my decision? I compared these Universities and got all interesting and useful facts about MRU and Vilnius University. Now I will try to tell some useful information about both of these Universities.

Mykolas Romeris University is new, modern University, educating young people and it is also known as University of Law. In Mykolas Romeris University there are also psychology studies, which are very interesting and useful. Psychology students in MRU can get barchelor's, master's and even doctoral degree. But now it is actuall for me only the barchelor's studies, because I think it is too early and too hard to plan something about the future.

Barchelor's studies in MRU lasts 4 full-time years and the programme of psychology studies is designed to grant a European standard of barchelor qualification in Psychology. In barchelors studies are included objects like: logics and methodology of science, language of speciality, foreign languages, the human's anathomy and physiology, sensation and perception, history of psychology, philosophy, research methods of psychology, attention, memory and learning, mathemathical statistics and statistical methods of analysis, emotions and motivation, politology, theories of personality, social psychology, thinking, language and intelligence, economic theory and so on... Despite the fact that I am only in the first course,I tend to believe that most interesting and useful subjects are related with psychology science, but such subjects like logics and methodology of science, philosophy and politology are also very important to this studies. All the subjects are important and useful, except the one - language of speciality. Why do I think that this subjects is not useful? Because during this subjects I hadn't heard anything new and hadn't learned anything new in Lithuanian language grammar,it looked to me only the waste of time. It was a time to learn Lithuanian history and grammar at the school and, in my opinion, there is no need to revise it learning at the university. Offcourse, I can't tell that this is the only subject which is not important, because , as I mentioned, I am only at the first course.

Talking about Vilnius University - this University is one of the oldest in Lithuania also educating young people and students of Vilnius University can get barchelor's, master's and doctor's degree in psychology. The programme of psychology studies in Vilnius University and in Mykolas Romeris University are very similar, only a few subjects are different. Studies lasts 4 full-time years. There are also subjects like foreign languages, the human's anathomy and physiology, sensation and perception, history of psychology, philosophy, research methods of psychology, attention, memory and learning and so on. But there is no subject such as speciality of language.

To sum up,I would like to mention that students ,who wants to get barchelor's degree in other European Universities, are studying 3 full-time years. All the subjects of psychology studies are very similar to ours, but during the year students in Europe have more lectures than students in Lithuanian Universities. In my opinion,it doesn't mean that studies of psychology in Lithuanian Universities are worse than in European Universities.
